Ann Dowling's Appearance at the Women in Engineering Forum on 26 November 2013
Ann Dowling's appearance at the Women in Engineering Forum on 26 November 2013 attracted a large audience of academics, staff and students from across the Department. LR4 was filled to capacity to hear Ann respond candidly to questions about her career and the issues she has had to address along the way.
Following discussion of her early career and key steps along the way, the session concluded with three key pieces of advice for aspiring female academics:
- try always to respond positively to opportunites that come your way;
- don't wait for the 'perfect time' before applying for things - sometimes you just have to have a go;
- find a field of resarch that really interests you and has scope to expand in the future.
