The Mechanics, Materials and Design Division (C) is currently advertising for an University Lecturership in Mechanics and Materials, to be known as the 'Granta Design Lectureship in Engineering'.

The Lectureship is a primarily an experimental position for a mechanical engineer who will develop a leading international research profile in the mechanics of materials. Relevant fields include (but are not limited to) additive manufacturing, in-situ testing, mechanical meta-materials and energy materials for a low-carbon future.

The lecturer will be expected to provide innovative teaching in the areas of mechanics and/or materials engineering, contributing to undergraduate courses, laboratory coursework, supervising undergraduate projects, examining and supervising of post-graduate students.

A start-up package is negotiable for the successful applicant. In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a supplement to the salary range stated for this role of up to 11%, £5500, for a five year period. Any such supplement would be awarded on the basis of a demonstrable history of exceptional achievement and is entirely at the discretion of the University.

The position is based in the Engineering Department in Cambridge.
