Finishing Up and Moving On: FUMO (Engineering)

This workshop is intended for postgraduate students who are between 6-12 months from submission. It is designed to equip participants with skills to finish their PhD successfully and move on to the next stage of their careers with a deeper understanding of their own career goals. It also aims to provide participants with the ability to clearly articulate their potential contribution to prospective employers.

Prerequisites: You must be between 6-12 months (approx) from submission


  • Give a clear idea of the process of PhD submission
  • Enable you to have a clear plan for completion of your Thesis
  • Allow you to consider your aims for a future career
  • Appreciate effective leadership behaviour
  • Be able to talk fluently about the challenge of leadership and how you would be able to realise your potential in this area
  • Appreciate the balance of leadership actions required for success
  • Enable you to prepare for your Viva and be more confident about the process
